McKinney-Vento Houselessness Act: The McKinney-Vento Act guarantees that students navigating houselessness have access to a free, appropriate, public education. If your family lives in any of the following situations your school-age children may quality for certain rights and protections:

  • In a shelter

  • In a motel or campground due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodation

  • In a car, park, abandoned building, or bus or train station

  • Doubled up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship

  • Lack of a fixed, regular, nighttime, adequate place of residence

Title I Program - Instructional Support in Reading and Math
Union Elementary School operates a school-wide program to address opportunity gaps that some students experience.  Through Title I, Part A of Every Student Succeeds Act (2015) the federal government provides additional monies to districts with significant levels of poverty to assist in raising the achievement levels in reading and math. 

Each year the district must complete an annual needs assessment, create and annually update a school-level plan and compact and engage families as partners in their child's learning.  Each of the following documents will be updated in the Fall at our Annual Meeting:
